People often ask us what the difference is between a yoga workshop and a yoga class. Great question! A Free*Spirited class is typically 60 minutes with one of our highly trained instuctors. This class will be a combination of pranayama (breathwork), asana (yoga poses), and meditation in a somewhat traditional Hatha or Ashtanga based sequence, depending on the instructors background. You can read our instructors backgrounds here.

A Free*Spirited workshop will be anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours and will be centered around a set intention or focus. This focus could be yoga, art, dance, and any modality we find that frees our spirit.

  • Full Moon/ New Moon Yoga

Both Full and new moon days are observed as yoga holidays in the Ashtanga Yoga tradition.
Their relative positions create different energetic experiences that can be compared to the breath cycle. The full moon energy corresponds to the end of inhalation when the force of prana is greatest. This is an expansive, upward moving force that makes us feel energetic and emotional, but not well grounded. The new moon energy corresponds to the end of exhalation when the force of apana is greatest. Apana is a contracting, downward moving force that makes us feel calm and grounded, but dense and disinclined towards physical exertion.

Come experience the magic of a candle lit yoga practice and the power the follows setting intention under the power of the moon. The full moon is an excellent time for cleansing and releasing old habits and patterns that no longer serve us, and the new moon excellent for setting intention and manifestation.
